African & Oceanic Art

Traditional African art, which was also called 'Negro art', is divided into a multitude of local arts. International Museums having long neglected the African arts, therefore most of the masterpieces are in the hands of private collectors and dealers, and some of them have achieved since the 1980s real fortunes. After various independence, many Europeans had returned to Europe with often significant collections, and little by little they have tumbled on flea markets and auction sales.
The conservation of works of African art into a museum was once unknown on this continent, works with religious or political vocations. Paradoxically, the fact that many of these works have preserved summers on other continents, especially Europe, allowed their preservation in time.
